Desperate Housewives 16 "Ladies Who Lunch"

Mmmm, this was a good one. Maisey Gibbons is arrested for soliciation in full view of Wysteria Lane.

"Throughout even the most respectable of neighbour hoods you can hear the sound of scandal. some scandals announce themselves with a shout, some with whisper, and some with a bang, and once in a great while, there comes a scandal so deliously sorted it roar drowns out all other noise.

Yes, everyone loves a scandal, no matter how big or small. afterall, what could be more entertaining than watching the downfall of the high and mighty. what could be more amusing than the public exposure of hypocritical sinners. yes, everyone loves a scandal, and if for someone reason you're not enjoying the latest one, well, the next one is always around the corner"

That couldn't be further from the truth

Cold FX

Well,

It all started yesterday. I felt a shudden twinge of a cold coming on. What did i do? I did waht every trained consumer does in this situation, i pumped my body full of pills from the first bottle that either said "Cold Relief" or insuated some type of chemical euphoria.

As i sit here at work, with my ears plugged, shivering, sniffling, aching, and blurred vision, i realzied that today i know what it feels like to be an adult. You know how it goes, you have this picture in your mind of how life is supposed to be. Your supposed to be a responsible citizen, devoid of emotion, running to work, picking up kids, and making dinner. Then come soccer practice, dance lessors, pianno classes, swimming lessons, and eventually you finally get to go to bed.

Good thing i have non of the aformentioned problems. I am a young man who has no other responsibilities besides consuming at will, any substance i get can my hands onto. I'm wearing a sweater, yet cold and shivering, i've probably spelt at least seven words wrong in this post, and my day doesn't end at 4:30. I still have to go to school and answer question about Oracle during our much anticipated FA (Faculity Assistant) sponsored labs. I feel very privledged. The Professor who runs the course is a sweet Lady, but her students can sometimes be less than desirable.

Anyway, Cold FX failed me! I probably didn't take it soon enough. I think colds are timed delayed. They know exactally when to hit and it is always at 9am, so you can't rush out to the pharamecy and buy stuff, you have to do it when you get off work, and by then, you are sick!

The Weekend Song

Monday morning is not monday morning
’till taylor has his coffee
Friday night is not friday night
’till jesse leaves the room sweaty
Tuesday morning is not tuesday morning
’till nick has his talk with his son
Thursday night is not thursday night
’till chris has sex with his bass

Come on to the weekend
’cause the weekend I’ll get high
Hold off ’till the weekend
’cause there’s too much time to think
And there will be nice skies

Tuesday morning is wednesday afternoon
When you cry all night
Wednesday early we fall into work
All caught up in the day by day
Thursday morning is not thursday morning
'till one of us says Yeah how's your life How's your life How's your life? How’s your life?
Yeah how’s your life
How’s your life?

Come on to the weekend
’cause the weekend I’ll get by
Hold off ’till the weekend
’cause there’s too much time to think and not much time to cry
Hold off ’till the weekend
’cause the weekend we’ll be high
Hold off ’till the weekend
’cause there’ll be no time but we’ll get by

What if there were no more mama’s boys
What if no one shares their humble appearance
What there were no consequences
What if there were no more arguments
Well that’d be a shame
Wouldn’t that be impossible
And you would be bored
’cause you wouldn’t want it a little too late...

Hold on ’till the weekend
’cause the weekend I’ll get by
Hold off ’till the weekend
’cause the man upstairs has the really nice skies
Hold off ’till the weekend
’cause the weekend I’ll get high
Hold off ’till the weekend
’cause we may look strange but we surely will get by

What if there were no more mama’s boys
What if we all had no thinking together
Wouldn’t that be a shame...
Wouldn’t that be impossible
And you would be bored
’cause you wouldn’t want it any other way...

Saint Patricks Day

Well,

I didn't realize it was St. Patties day again! How did i find out, from a coworker. They wore green. I guess today is the national day where you don't need an excuse to go out and get loaded.

I might head out later today and get some beer (even though i don't really like beer)!

iPod

Well today is the day, Matthew at Win Energy lent me his iPod for a week to try it out. I'm very excited to say the least. It is really cool. I'm going to download some of my music onto it tonight when i get home and really see what this little while thing can do. I just need to pick up a cable that will allow me to plug it into my PC, Matts came with a Firewire (Mac only usually) not the USB 2.0 i need.

I think i might end up buying one. I'm sure it will be fun week.

iPod!

Car Show

Wow, went to the car show this weekend with Ken, that was totally awesome. I was able to see some interesting vehicals and see the ones that i would actually pay money for, and the one's i wouldn't.

I liked the Jetta's the most. Not because my friend owns one, 'cause it was the only one i sat in that actually fit. Sounds odd and weird, but it's the truth, i'm a 6'1" guy, i'm tall and i've yet to sit in a car and actually be confortable.

I'm not sure what car i would buy, i'd have to test drive a couple, but Jetta's are high on my list!

Star Trek Cancelled

It's official. Star Trek: Enterprise, being it it's fourth year, has officially been cancelled by Paramount pictures. I think it is sad day for Star Trek, but being on the air for 18 straight years. With Next Generation (7), Voyager (7), and then Enterprise (4). I am sad as a Star Trek fan, but my favorite Star Trek was Voyager, Kate Mulgrew will always have a place in my heart as the warm, caring, compassionate, and intellectual Captain Catherine Janeway.

Bye Bye Star Trek, but come back soon

Tiesto - Just Be

I think this song really sums up a lot about me and my friends!

You can travel the world
But you can't run away
From the person you are in your heart
You can be who you want to be
Make us believe in you
Keep all your light in the dark
You're searching for truth
You must look in the mirror
And make sense of what you can see
Just be
Just be

They say learning to love yourself
Is the first step
But you take what you want to be real
Flying on plains exotic locations
Won't teach you
How you how to feel
Beside the fact
That you are who you are
And nothing can change that believe
Just be
Just be

Cause now I know
Is not so far
To were I go
There's not this spot
Since this I feel
I need
To just be
Just be
I was lost
And I'm still lost
But I feel so much better

Cause now I know
Is not so far
To were I go
There's not this spot
Since this I feel
I need
To just be
Just be

Blind Justice

You see everything!

A cool show, a little to early to tell whether or not it will make the cut. I hope it does. I want to see more of his struggle to be a cop. I have a feeling everyone will want his shades in a few weeks!

The Pacifier

What a cute movie! It was a much needed therapy break from the normal world. The Pacifier is basically about a lieutenant who is attempts to rescue a professor, which turns sour, and then he is assigned to protect the family. A family that needs guidance but much first get past their own preconceptions and challenges of living in suburbia.

I really enjoyed the movie, my favorite character is LuLu the youngest girl and most boisterous of he gang. Vin Diesel makes the movie warm and funny with his sly and subtle humor. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a feel good movie (it's Disney, not too much violence). There are some unexpected characters, the woman from Gilmore Girls, made a awesome addition, and Chris Potter, who I've seen on countless other TV shows was a twist.

Check it out!

Oracle 10g

I decided to install Oracle 10g last night. I have no idea what possessed me to do this. I was feeling bored and wanted to get reacquainted with the 1/2 million dollar database. First I noticed the download is rather small. 1 570ish MB file. I was totally shocked. Oracle finally did something about the 100000 addons you get with their database, they made a companion CD. Maybe one day, Microsoft will take the hint and stop including 1000+ fonts with Windows :).

So after the zip file was done downloading, I decompressed it, and installed it. The installer is somewhat improved, only took 30 minutes, last time it too almost 3 hours. I chose all the basic options, and clicked "Next". It hummed along and displayed adds how this version is so much better than the last, and how there are countless new features I will probably never need or use.

When I rebooted and ran it, Oracle decided it wasn't enough just to run, it had to eat up 200+MB of Memory. I was like, dude! Woah, I don't even have anything loaded yet and you are taking up 200+ MB of my RAM. I have a GB, but that isn't the point. I think I might uninstall it, I'm not too sure yet. I'm supposed to help a teacher out this term at DeVry so I might keep it installed so I can have something to practice on when I get to mark labs.

Task Manager

Well,

Today i thought it was about time to start logging my job hunting progress. So i decided the best way to learn something is to build something. I started writting a Task Manager to keep my job hunting organized. It started out as an excel spreasheet, but i feel that excel should only be used for timesheet reports and accounting people.

As it turns out, i have no idea what i want the UI to look like. All i know is that i want to track what i'm doing. I ended up with a group box, text box, 2 buttons and a data grid. It looks rather lonely, but it's a start.

I went looking on the web to find someone i could take inspiration off of. For the most part, the only app i've seen that is remotely inspiring is Outlook. All the other apps are knockoffs of Outlook.

This is why programmers need graphic designers. Someone to build the pretty UI, and i'll make the pretty UI do something. Well back to my Task Manager, i could think of something more intelligent to name this app, but i'm tired. I've been staring at an LCD all day, and my eyes are tired.

Desperate Housewives

Well,

I finally watched it. A friend of mine recorded all the Desperate Housewives to date, and I finally watched all 16 episodes this weekend. All I can say, Suburbia never looked so good. As being of the unfortunate Canadians would must live in Suburbia I must say, Desperate Housewives is as close as it can get sometimes.

I really enjoy the antedates every week by the shows deceased character Mary-Alice. She sheds new light into this area and provides a frightening accurate description of how much Suburbia is sometimes.

"Yes, each new day in suburbia brings with it a new set of lies, the worst, are the ones we tell ourselves before we fall asleep. We whisper them in the dark, telling ourselves, we're happy. Or, that he's happy. That we can change, or, that he will change his mind. We persuade ourselves we can live with our sins, or, that we can live without him. Yes, each night before we fall asleep we lie to ourselves in a desperate desperate hope that come morning, it will all be true"

Wow, that is very true. For those who haven't watched the show, let me tell you, it's quite the trip.

We have The Narrator (Marry-Alice) as she sees the world, The Model (Gabriel), The divorcee (Susan), The Anal Retentive (Bree (I love her)), The busy body (Ms. Huber), The Outcast (Edie), The Freak (Zack), the Sympathizer (Julie), the Cheater (Rex, Bree's Husband), the Loner (George the pharmacist), the Betrayer (Carlos, Gabriel's Husband), the Tries to Hard (lunette), and the Bo Hunk (Mike). We have quite the cast, and they never disappoint.

Alias - Season 1

Wow, that is all I can say. From watching the pilot to the season finale, what a superb show. I was worried when the show came out that it would follow the usual spy show and suck. Alias with Jennifer Garner is incredible.

From the narration by Syndey Bristow to the stylized writing of each episode, to the double agent story lines, Alias has you hooked from start to finish. It has stellar cast, with awesome and intriguing guest starts, to plot lines that are plausible and fight sequences that make you wonder how she does it all.

My favorite episode by far is "Q & A" Episode 17, where Sydney explains to Special Officer Kendall (played by Terry O'Quinn now on LOST) how she came to be a double agent. It was spectacular. I am amazed how everytime I hear the back story of "Syd" I learn more and more about her character and the precarious situation she is in. It makes me love the show and want to watch more.

Now all I need to do is get Season's 2 and 3, and I'll be all set.

The only complaint I have about Alias is that the episodes are only an hour long, and you never know where the cut will happen.

If your not an Alias fan, you will be! Watch Alias, and see how deep the rabbit hole goes!

It's Alive!

Yea! I finally got a blog. People have been bugging me, the climate has been forcing me, and the economy has been hinting at me, and I finally listened!!!

Hear that Mom! I listened. Don't die of shock, be proud your little boy finally took some advice and got a blog (almost as good as getting a life, one step at a time!). Now we don't have to pay all that money on therapy, I can ask the world what they think instead!

I think I should christen this blog with a funny story. I was MSNed this one day. It's about a guy in the UK who stole computer equipment from a professor at a University, the professor got tired of his stuff going missing, so forced a web cam and software to unite and created a program that takes pictures if anything moves in front of it! Why didn't I think of that? Maybe then I will be able to see where all my movies end up going or why my CD collection keeps shrinking.

Anyway, here is the address:
